I booted up my PC today and little did I know, I found that there was no sound card detected. The master volume speaker icon has an 'x' with a red bubble around it.

My Asus Xonar DG once again has failed, for the 8th time I think, but the difference this time - it refuses to be detected and I cannot install the audio driver for it if it is not detected by my computer

At this point, I figured the Asus Xonar DG is fried, dead. So I try going back to my Onboard Sound. That isn't working either. I installed the only available audio driver for my motherboard (Asus Evo), and it installed properly but I still get no sound.

Why? Probably due to the lack of driver for the Multimedia Audio Controller - it has a exclamation point on it in the Device Manager.
I'm stuck... I've tried going back to onboard, I've tried reinstalling the Asus Xonar DG audio drivers. I've done a driver sweep, disabled/enabled onboard sound correspondingly. No give.

This Multimedia Audio Controller still has that blasted exclamation point. This is the first time it has happened. Help. :(
